During a visit to San Diego, David Cameron was delighted to drop by the UK Pavilion at BIO 2017, the world’s largest biotechnology conference.
Attracting over 2,500 CEOs from leading biotech companies and more than 15,000 biotechnology and pharma leaders, the international annual BIO conference covers a wide spectrum of life science and application areas including drug discovery, genomics, biofuels, nanotechnology and cell therapy.
David Cameron was pleased to be able to visit the UK Pavilion and meet with UK representatives at the event, which is supported by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). He was impressed by the strong British presence at the event, showing the world that the UK has one of the strongest life sciences sectors, employing over 235,000 people and with exports totalling £30bn.
While at the Conference, David Cameron also spoke about his role as President of Alzheimer’s Research UK, and the need for greater funding of research into the disease.
