David Cameron meets with Anwar Ibrahim

David Cameron was delighted to meet Anwar Ibrahim, President of the People’s Justice Party and former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, during his visit to London today.

As Prime Minister, David Cameron put pressure on the Malaysian government on the issue of human rights, especially the imprisonment of Anwar Ibrahim. Commenting after the meeting, David Cameron said it had been a “pleasure to meet with Anwar Ibrahim in London to discuss the recent Malaysian elections, his extraordinary story of courage and fortitude, and his strong desire to reform Malaysia’s economy and institutions.”
